What is the cost of eating and drinking during travel in railway

The country's highest man uses services of Indian Railways. It is a different matter that the number of air passengers is increasing annually, but people's confidence in the railway is persistent. Passengers have to face the arbitrariness of the contractor of food and catering in the railway. Many times there have been complaints of felony along with the passengers, and many people traveling on the railways become witnesses and they can not say anything. This happens often with those who are aware of the battle of their rights. Travelers have to pay the price of their awareness. This is why the Railways have been receiving several complaints in this regard.

Contracting arrangements for food
The Railway Ministry had decided to not issue new licenses to any contractor last year after repeated complaints of getting food and drink in the Railways. Instead IRCTC was given this responsibility. IRCTC says that the contractors have not yet been fully closed but their services are being taken. At the same time, the officials said that monitoring and control is now completely done by IRCTC.

Bills for buying food items
A few days ago it was also said that the passengers will be billed on buying food and drink items. For this, the Railway Ministry itself and IRCTC also appealed to the people. But even after so many years, many people complain that the bill is not being paid even if the demand is made. IRCTC officials say that steps are being taken in this direction and it may take some time to get the system fully adjusted.

Arrangement of POS machine
Ministry of Railways had recently said that during the visit, the Railways will use POS machine for the purchase and distribution of goods made by the passengers. This machine will get the bill immediately. I.e. arrangement of digital payment is being made for purchase in the railway. IRCTC officials say that work is going on in this direction. At present, this exercise has been implemented in 20-22 trains of the country. Attempts are being made to increase its scope

Arrange a pantry car
The government had made it clear that the slow-moving trains could stop cooking. Instead it will have food at different stations which will go to the trains. But at present there is a facility of pantry car on many trains from IRCTC. In these compartments, fresh food is being given to the passengers.

Let me tell you that IRCTC has been brought in place of the new policy giving catering responsibility mostly to the place of seven year old policy. While being Mamata Banerjee's Railway Minister in the year 2010, IRCTC was freed from the responsibility of catering. Railway Catering Policy -2017 IRCTC has the right to fix the menu of food and determine the amount for it, however for this, he has to consult the Railway Board.
