Weekend Camp

Hi there. Today I want to share with you a camping adventure. Last summer my wife and a few of my friends went camping at Darlık Dam Lake. Since we are all people working in the office, this 2-day nature adventure has made us quite relaxed.  I will try to explain this camping, away from the city complex, with photos.

Darlık Dam is a dam built on the Darlık River in Istanbul between 1986-1988 for the purpose of drinking water supply. The lake area is 5.56 km2. (source: https://wikipedia.org)

Since the dam was set up in a wooded area, it was quite convenient and untouched for camping. It has recently become one of the popular campgrounds for residents near Istanbul.

You can catch the first panoramic view when you look from coordinates to northeast.

After 80 km from Kadikoy by car we came to Erenler Mahallesi where the dam was located. It was our friend who greeted us first =)

This is the landscape we see, when we look at the same coordinates from slightly north-west. There is a small island in the middle of the lake. If you are brave enough and love adventure, it's just your business to go there.

When we look closely, we see a natural flowerpot on the rock and a seedling that has begun to bloom in it. This dam was built by human. However, this seedling, which comes out of the rock, is getting score in the struggle of nature against man.

This is the angle you can see when you look north-east from the coordinates. We built our tent here because it's more secluded. We paid close attention to the entrance of the tent to look east, so we not miss the sunrise.

As the sun went down in the evening, we sipped our wines and chatted around the campfire accompanied by the songs of the frogs.

We have given this space and its surroundings for 2 days to explore. It's a quiet place with wild animals. Everyone can hear the voice of the spikes in the early morning. I think I saw some pig tracks too. However, I did not encounter another wild animal other than a small water snake. It was so fast that I could not really take a picture. I did not try fishing because it was forbidden but saw someone does=)
