Beautiful square of the old city of Prague

in #travel6 years ago

The Old Town is fine, elegant, refined, full of atmosphere and one senses that such a city may have been in the past the capital of the sacred Roman empire (the city with a hundred towers). The design of the old city is truly extraordinary, elegant buildings often have different colors (as often happens in cities that have an oriental matrix) and you can admire the famous astronomical clock, their theaters, the outdoor cafes and the beautiful square . Here the weather seems to have stopped. the atmosphere is really suggestive and it is possible to reach every place on foot. Do not take transportation (this is my advice). take advantage to get lost in the streets and alleys of Prague, in their churches (here you will find the black madonnas that are affected by the influence of the Polish cult of the madonna of Chestokova), in their shops, in the stalls, admire their famous crystals, the finely worked amber. and then take advantage to taste the magnificent Czech cuisine. their excellent meat dishes, the delicious beer. give yourself this wonderful experience.

Visiting the historic center of Prague is one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had, I did it with my family, in late spring, there was not much crowd. It is likely that other cities are more beautiful or more interesting from an artistic, cultural and monumental point of view but Prague is a perfect synthesis of everything that a traveler wants because it is the whole context, landscape. history, monument but also shopping and atmosphere, which makes the stay in the city an unforgettable experience. The clock square is the fulcrum of the historic center every hour, with punctuality, the tolling activates a merry-go-round from the tower where the 12 apostles revolve and move almost to greet the crowd below. It is the ideal place to meet. From the square it is possible to visit the historical center characterized by towers, spiers, frescoed palaces, lanes and courtyards which are a continuous discovery of curiosities, locals, small museums and art galleries, shops as well as (ahime!) Glassware. The Charles bridge over the Vltava (the river is actually quite dirty and insignificant) and the castle from which it is possible to see a beautiful panorama of the city are also beautiful and lived. If you are lovers of history, pay a visit to the monument, memory of the sacrifice for freedom (almost forgotten) by Jean Pallach, in the homonymous square just outside the historic center. From this square to the historic center there is a long and wide street with numerous kiosks for drinking and eating at low costs (even in 2012) The atmosphere of the city is really lively and intriguing. an invitation to the good life. Taste street food, enjoy wonderful walks and treat yourself to at least one dinner in one of the countless restaurants in a city that, in the evening, becomes even more romantic, almost magical.

I never used the public transport in most of the European cities, it was much more fun just wandering on the streets, not knowing what to expect at every corner. Prague has a lot of alternative neighborhoods besides the main attractions, so one has to walk to discover them.

Greetings from Cape Town :)
