Cultural Differences Between the United States and Mazatlán, Mexico (VIDEO)

We spent a little over two weeks in the delightful city of Mazatlán, Mexico. During that time, a few key differences surfaced between our old, familiar lives in the US and here. Although this video doesn't include all the ways that the two places are different, it covers a few notable ones like demographics, cleanliness, and walkability.

Thanks, very interesting!

Hey guys,

Nice video again. This is weird but I particularly liked the shot of the earthworm because for a moment I thought it was a snake and I was about to freak out. Then your hand came into the shot and I was like "oh, It's an earthworm. duh!"

Apart from the absence of women in the shops and the spontaneous concerts you are subjected to, are there differences when interacting with Mexicans? For example, are you expected to greet your elders when you see them? Do they greet with handshakes or hugs and kisses?
Your latest post has given me a great idea. Since I have traveled to a few countries, I should write about the culture shock moments I experienced while visiting different countries. Awesome! Thanks guys!

Hey @oncebey60!

The worm in the sand was actually much smaller than an earthworm, at least the earthworms I grew accustomed to growing up in Minnesota. Those earthworms were many times bigger than this and were dark brown in color.

It might be because we've spent a lot of our time thus far in touristy locations, but as far as greetings go, we haven't experienced anything that's too different than what we were used to in the US. There've been a couple people who gave Maddie a kiss on the hand or near the side of her face while meeting or while parting, but it doesn't seem to be commonplace.

OOO yeah! A culture shock post would be a good one, we might have to do something like that!

Thanks @tennysonck. We're falling a bit more in love with Mexico each and every day ;) We'd recommend visiting if you get a chance!
