How to announce a surprise birthday trip to Mexico
I hate secrets, and I hate lying but for the last six months I have kept @wadepaterson's surprise birthday trip to Mexico hush.
I found myself days prior googling - "How to announce a surprise birthday trip."
Should our two friends coming with us be in the airport with a banner? Should they check-in early and surprise him at the gates wearing sombreros? Do we just all sit on a plane and not tell him till the captain announces it?!
So many ideas, none that clicked. Then it came to me - Tequila!
It was finally time to tell him on the night we flew out, he was aware we were going away but his brain has been cheated into thinking it would be somewhere like Vegas or California.
I had reserved dinner at a restaurant and our two friends were enroute. I procrastinated ordering food with my many diet restriction questions (sadly, this is a real thing these days). He was getting hangry.
In sneaked the couple, with a plate. Four shots of tequila sat upon it and a message that read "Mexico."
Wade's reaction was a beauty.

And thus, we proceeded to the airport for some sun, food, volleyball, margaritas and relaxation.
