The Parthenon // Yuk Kita Ke Yunani
Hi from Greece!
Yeah, what a bullcrap :P
No, am not in Greece at the moment. But I am blogging something related to Greece :D
Next story to share from our recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee, is the great Parthenon. No, this is not THE ancient (former) temple of Athena, which you can find in Greece, but this is the replica of that Parthenon, though - it's a FULL-SCALE replica.

Yuk jalan-jalan nengok peninggalan Yunani yang sangat terkenal, yaitu Parthenon.
Parthenon merupakan bangunan dimana bangsa Yunani kuno pergi untuk berdoa/memuja Dewi Athena.
Tapiiii, karena aku tadi cuman jalan-jalan ke Amrik, bukan ke Yunani beneran wkwkwk, jadi Parthenon yang satu ini ada replika dari Parthenon di Yunani :)

Pretty huge too. Those pillars are very tall, thus you will find very high ceiling too once you are inside.
The Nashville Parthenon is the only replica of the real Parthenon, in the world, by the way, so if by any chance you are in Nashville, you have to visit it (well unless you are in Greece, then by all mean, do visit the real Parthenon :))
Bangunan ini super buesar deh. Tiang-tiang batunya menjulang tinggi. Didalam pun begitu, langit-langit bangunannya jadi super tinggi juga. Nengok ke atas bikin capek leher, euy.
Parthenon ini meskipun replika, hanya ada satu-satunya di dunia loh. Dan ukurannya pun, sesuai bangunan aslinya di Yunani sana, sebelum bangunan tersebut runtuh.
The Nasville Parthenon serve as an art museum. So inside you will find gallery, historical pictures, the construction of the Nashville Parthenon, famous paintings, and artifacts plus mementos from exposition that was once held at the Parthenon - this replica Parthenon was actually built as part of Tennessee Centennial Exposition, to celebrate 100 year of Tennesse.
Jika bangunan aslinya merupakan tempat pemujaan, replika ini sendiri sih dibuka sebagai museum.
Aslinya sih bukan untuk museum yah. Kala itu, ditahun 1897, kota Nashville merayakan ulang tahunnya yang ke 100, dan para orang penting jaman itu, mereka memutuskan untuk membangun sesuatu yang cukup megah demi merayakan ulang tahun kota mereka tercinta. Jadilah mereka membuat replika ukuran nyata, senyata Parthenon asli di jaman dulu.
The gallery, mementos, and whatnot, they are available for visitors to record/take pictures, however, there is a room where they exhibit some authentic artifacts from the real Parthenon, and this room is off limit from visitor's cameras.
At this exhibition room, you can find gown, helmet and whatnot, which obviously, I do not have any pictures to show you :P
Di museum Parthenon ini bisa kita lihat banyak foto-foto kuno waktu mereka membangun replika Parthenon ini. Juga ada galeri khusus lukisan-lukisan, peninggalan sejarah, dll
Pengunjung boleh foto-foto namun tidak semua ruangan bisa difoto. Ada satu ruang yang tidak boleh difoto karena memajang peninggalan asli Parthenon Yunani.
But don't worry, even if I cannot show you what were in that special room, this is the main attraction of The Nashville Parthenon.
The giant statue of Athena!
Look how massive this statue is, WOWZER!
Namun meski ga boleh, ga apa-apa deh, karena memang pengunjung lebih menuju pada patung berikut ini.
Yaitu replikanya patung Dewi Athena, sebesar, semegah, secantik aslinya yang pernah ada di Parthenon di Yunani.
This statue is also a replica of the Athena statue that once was in the original Parthenon. On her hand, she is holding a supposedly victory statue, which looks like an angel in my opinion. She has Medusa face on her chest. Her crown/helmet has what looks like to be sphinx and griffin (mythical creatures), she also has a spere, a serpent, and a shield.
On the shield as you can see, there is a painting of The Battle of the Gods and Giants.
This statue is very beautiful.
Seriously, go visit The Nashville Parthenon if you are in the area.
There is another room right after the statue of Athena, and inside this room you can find Pediments of The Parthenon.
They are two sets of statues, and supposedly there are 50 of them, I did not count :P These statues are also replicas from the original Parthenon.
Aslinya terbuat dari gading dan emas sih. Kalau replikanya ini aku kurang tau terbuat dari apa. Cantik banget, tapi mirip ga sih sama patung Dewi-Dewi di film Cina? Kok menurutku agak mirip yak?
Ditangan Dewi Athena dia memegang patung kecil yang melambangkan kemenangan. Di helm dia tuh ada sphix (yang seperti di Mesir gitu), juga burung griffin (tau kan? mahluk dalam mitologi Yunani, berbadan singa namun berwajah layaknya elang dan bersayap). Segala yang ada di patung Dewi Athena ini, merupakan simbol-simbol yang terkenal di sejarah mitologi Yunani.
Dan ada ruangan di belakang patung Dewi Athena ini, dimana kita bisa menemukan sekumpulan patung yang dikenal sebagai "pediment", itu loh patung di atap bangunan yang mirip bentuk segitiga? Semoga ngerti yak :D

I took many more pictures while at The Nashville Parthenon, I do not know how to cramp all of them here without making this travel blog too long to read and bore people. One thing I like to point out, it is so worth to check out, seriously :)

Yeah you can't walk through the real one in Greece and it's definitely not in the same condition as this one.
