Chillax in Chilao; Bonkers in Buckhorn
Went to the Angeles National Forest a few weeks ago with my brother, dogs and friends. It was a hot weekend, in the nineties at least, but I saw some beautiful sights. I love how one place can have so many different climates; from rocky desert to dense green forests.
I think the dogs had never quite been on a walk this long. After a while they were just done.
There were so many cool rock formations near the campground. I sat and painted them all day Saturday; not much else I could do in that heat.
The night brought the beautiful relief of coolness as we played music and chatted around the campfire. There was more beer, ribs and corn than we could consume.
The next day we tried out the hiking trails at Buckhorn
We found a beautiful spring fed by a waterfall and spent the hotter part of the day getting wet. There was a lot of splashing involved.
I wish I could do a better job of capturing how the light mirrored off the water played across the rocks; hard with a simple phone camera.
On the walk back I felt so lucky to be in nature again and around such gigantic trees.
On the way home we stopped at our usual biker bar for beer and burgers. A fitting end for a glorious weekend.
