Seven Rila Lakes

In every country there is such a landmark, of which she is proud and shows everything. In Bulgaria, it is nature. She is extraordinarily beautiful. Not exotic, but beautiful in its simplicity and friendliness. In Bulgaria, there are no dangerous animals / insects and all that, and the eye rejoices everywhere.

One of the most important natural sights of Bulgaria is the Sedem Rila Ezera area. This is a group of lakes of glacial origin, located at an altitude of between 2095-2535 meters above sea level. They are located in the mountains of Northwest Rila.

The first three lakes are called Tear, Eye and Kidney. The following are called Shamrock, Fish and ** Lower Lake **, and another lake is called Gemini. The name of each lake reflects its features. The highest, pure as a tear, is at an altitude of 2,535 meters. From it you can drink. And we drank.

Lake Tear

The area of its water surface is 0.7 hectares, the depth is 4.5 meters.

Next, if you go downstairs, this is the Eye Lake (also called the Heart). It looks like an eye and at the same time it is the deepest of seven - 37.5 meters!

These are flat limestone cliffs protruding from the top of Lake Tear.

In this area, there is nothing but a pair of signposts and two "hut" - guest houses for high-altitude tourists. Next to the Rybny lake is the Hizha Sedemte Ezera. It was built here in 1932 at the expense of members of the White Brotherhood. Who does not know is such a teaching created by the Bulgarian healer Peter Dynov (Donov).

Every August, the White Brotherhood gathers near the Kidney Lake and arranges its meetings of sun and health there. The grave of Peter Donov is located in Sofia near the Russian embassy.

Legend

According to legend, many thousands of years ago in these places lived a married couple of giants who had a beautiful home and strong mutual love. Evil forces envied this and decided to destroy this happy family hearth.

The giant began to fight the evil forces, protecting every blade of grass around his house, but only inflamed their anger and died. Evil forces left this place, leaving behind bare rocks, scorched valleys and a giant's weeping wife. Her tears ran without stopping and filled the abyss between the rocks. Thus formed a lake of amazing purity.

How to get there

You can get here by car or as part of an organized bus tour (83 km from Sofia). From the parking lot, there is a ski lift to the hut "Sedemte Lake", and there you have to go on foot or on horseback to the Kidney Lake. After him rise to the Heart and Tears only on foot. On the whole trip you need to lay the day. Warm clothing and sunscreen are required at any time of the year. Walking here is better in summer and autumn. In winter, they say, skiers ride here, but I was not.

I have to admit that all this is alive is even more fascinatingly beautiful. Just an alien landscape. But to get around all these beauties is quite difficult.
