Pintando el Palacio de Cristal // Painting the Crystal Palace

Madrid tiene un tesoro que a mi me encanta disfrutar. Pasear por los jardines del Retiro es un privilegio. Darme una vuelta por el lago y los diversos jardines nunca me defrauda.

Me gustó la experiencia de la acuarela del día anterior y me dispuse a repetirlo. Esta vez pensé que podía plasmar el Palacio de Cristal.
El día estaba bastante mas nublado y frío, pero sin lluvia.

Llegué al Retiro y me dirigí directamente a mi
objetivo. Me instalé en un banco justo enfrente del Palacio de Cristal.

Este edificio curioso se construyó en 1887 con motivo de la Exposición de las Islas Filipinas. Albergó palmeras, plantas acuáticas y diversa vegetación de estas islas orientales. Es un edificio cuyas paredes y techos son de cristal y con una estructura metálica que lo soporta. Hoy en día se utiliza para algunas exposiciones o eventos. A mi me gusta mucho.

Delante de él hay lago con una fuente que impulsa hacia arriba un largo chorro blanco. En el lago hay dos árboles que hunden sus raíces en el agua y son de color rojo, aunque actualmente no tienen casi hojas. Hay patos y tortugas en las orillas. A los niños les encanta.

Esta rodeado de castaños de indias que, en este momento, están florecidos.

Estar sentado en el banco, dibujando con el sonido de la fuente y la brisa de las hojas, fue un momento muy relajante.

Os he dejado los pasos de como fue evolucionando la acuarela. No estoy muy contento del resultado final pero, eso si, pasé un rato inolvidable.

Madrid has a treasure that I love to enjoy. Walking through the gardens of the Retiro is a privilege. Going around the lake and the various gardens never disappoints me.

I liked the watercolor experience of the previous day and I decided to repeat it. This time I thought I could capture the Crystal Palace.The day was quite cloudy and cold, but without rain.

I arrived at the Retiro and went directly to my
objective. I settled on a bench right in front of the Crystal Palace.

This curious building was built in 1887 on the occasion of the Exposition of the Philippine Islands. It sheltered palm trees, aquatic plants and diverse vegetation of these oriental islands. It is a building whose walls and ceilings are made of glass and with a metallic structure that supports it. Nowadays it is used for some exhibitions or events. I like a lot.

In front of it there is a lake with a fountain that pushes up a long white stream. In the lake there are two trees that sink their roots in the water and are red, although at present they do not have almost leaves. There are ducks and turtles on the banks. Kids love it.

It is surrounded by chestnut trees that, at this moment, are flowering.

Sitting on the bench, drawing with the sound of the fountain and the breeze of the leaves, was a very relaxing moment.

I have left you the steps of how the watercolor evolved. I'm not very happy with the final result, but, yes, I spent an unforgettable time.
