Canada's Most Exciting City

Greetings and good vibes from Manitoba, being my first post from Winnipeg I'll share a brief history of the city. Nearly the longitudinal centre of North America and where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet this area has always been a center of trade. First Nations people, fur traders and the Hudson Bay Company all set up shop here. The city was incorporated in 1873. The rail road came to town in 1881 and Winnipeg was a thriving transportation hub. The Panama Canal opening in 1914 hurt the city business. Prohibition starts in 1916 followed by The Winnipeg general strike in 1919 when 2 strikers died. On Strike_0.jpg The city was home to many wealthy bootleggers and had a thriving red light district. The bootleggers built office buildings and the brothels were bangin!! In the year 1918 the statue named "Eternal Youth and the Spirit of Enterprise" A.k.a the golden boy, was sculpted and was placed atop the Legislative Building in November 1919. Though the technology changes Winnipegers remain pretty much the same. Lookin for a good time or on the prowl for opportunity. We have swanky nightlife, high end eats and world class attractions. The city is thriving. We have big business, new construction and fascinating historical sites. Winnipeg may have it's rough edges but I've always found it to be an entertaining and exciting city. I'm glad to call it home. I'll introduce you to the different people and sights of my city and show you why I'm proud to be a Winnipeger. Lots of people say bad things about my city, we were even dissed by the San Jose Sharks. It dosent matter if we have consistently been the murder capital of Canada or that we have the highest amounts of armed robbery in the country. Who cares if we can't smoke cigarettes inside and the bars stop serving at 2 thirty in the morning. We have some of the most breathtaking women in the world here and there's a crazy city full of them along with many other scenes and schemes! Follow along and let me show you around my hometown.
