Forest Bathing at Sitio Patag, Silay City Negros Occidental

Mountain trekking and other adventures related with exploring the nature is one of my inclination. It gives me a relaxing feeling when I only hear natural sounds created by trees, rivers, animals while walking under the tall trees. I also believed that trees can remove the negative aura from your body and restore positive vibes.

There is a culture in Japan called shinrin-yoku – literally, "forest bathing." Where Japanese walk for more than an hour into the woods. Because by simply doing this hobby the nature energy absorbs by our body and really improve our physical aspects including our mental state as a human.

This Therapeutic forest bathing have health benefits and improves your body system.

Location : Sitio Patag, Silay City Negros Occidental
Traveling time : 2-3 hours from Bacolod City
Transportation : Accessible by private vehicle, public jeepney and tricycle
Take note : High rise winding road

Before going to any places most especially if you decided to explore the secluded forest. Make sure you did a research or look for a tour guide who is familiar with the place to secure your safety.

Then fully equipped yourself with enough food, water, jacket ( to protect your skin from biting insects like malaria carrier mosquitoes ) , money ( for environmental fees ), a piece of stick ( in case there are wild animals ) and any thing that can protect you from harm.

• Manage your time properly
• Follow the rules and policy of the place
• Fully charge your ( camera, mobile phone, power bank )
• fully tank your vehicle or motorbike
• Don't go beyond private areas
• do not enter to restricted places
• keep an eye most of the time
• watch your step for possible crawling snakes
• wear comfortable shirts
• avoid wearing shorts
• wear flexible trousers
• as much as possible wear closed rubber shoes not slippers
• apply insect repellant
• Bring necessary things
• bring extra shirt
• never ever swim to the river if the current is not normal
• avoid eating fruits
• don't touch plant with thorns
• never litter your garbage anywhere
• let your guide to lead you the path
• keep an eye to your companions
• familiarize the place to avoid getting lost

I found this concrete post with dimension 10 inches width X 7 feet height that confused me if what is the purpose why it is visible in a secluded forest. Maybe it is mark to measure the land area and somebody owned this place.

The appearance and the formation of rocks where the river water spontaneously flowing shows the rich mineral content presence in the water.

This tree looks weird because most of it's leaves are gone and replaced by these growing ferns massively. From trunk going to its branches, they are all concealed with ferns.

You might say that there's nothing special in this place, because its just an ordinary forest. Because we chose not to go continue our journey and cross the river for the sake of satisfying ourselves.

Sometimes we need to relaxed and appreciate what is available. Then pause for a while listen to the sound of silence then feel the calmness of nature. Feel the energy that slowly restores your positive aura and free your self from worries.

Take nothing but pictures, kill nothing but time
leave nothing but footprint, bring nothing but memories.
