Last Saturday I have started training for the upcoming tour from Częstochowa, southwestern Poland to Romanian coast. The route passed through Nakło-Chechło Lake which is probably the most beautiful artificial reservoir in the area. Since I have spent several hours chilling by the lake and loved it, I thought I'll give it a try and scratch a few words about this amazing destination.

The details of my ride are available in my previous post.

Setting

The lake serves as popular backcountry destination and is surrounded with a large number of holiday resorts, camping fields, restaurants, bars, boat, canoe and pedalo rentals, along with many strolling and biking trails. Nakło-Chechło is famous for it's flat and sandy beaches. In bacteriological terms, the water is pure and corresponds to the 1st clarity class (tests are run each year by the sanitary-epidemiological station).

History of Nakło-Chechło Lake

Nakło-Chechło Lake is an artificial reservoir situated in Silesian voivodeship, near Pyrzowice international airport. In the late 60s, the sand was exploited in the area. In 1968 the exploitation has finished, and five years later the exploitation hollow was flooded with water and turned into a landlocked lake. Evaporated water is replenished with downfall and four underground springs.

The vision

My friend @danielw and I would like to create a knowledge base for travelers from all around the world (especially bikers). Some of the tips you'll get from as are (but are not limited to): how to service your bike, what to take with you on your trip, how to find free/cheap accommodation and washing facilities, what to eat during the trip to keep up the pace, where to cross country borders etc.

We are committed to making this our full time jobs and since we are passionate about it, we believe we can build a strong community behind our vision.

If you like to find out more and support us, you can go to our projects page on Fundition.io and/or check the latest project update.
