London Bridge, Falling Down?
Tower Bridge
NOT, LONDON BRIDGE
There are a few bridges, over the Thames, in central London, that over time were known as London Bridge. Over the decades, as traffic increased, and loads got heavier, the Original London Bridge was determined to be structurally unfit to carry taoday's modern traffic. in the early 1960's, it was auctioned and sold to an Oil Magnate in Arizona. He bought it, moved it stone by stone via a cargo ship and rebuilt it (The Mayor Of London laying the first stone)!
The land he built it on, in Lake Havasu Arizona was not selling, and not attracting buyers. Once he opened the bridge up, toursists began to flock to the city. AND property began to sell. Purchasing the bridge and moving to Arizona, turned out to be a huge success.
Pictured above? the Tower Bridge has stood since the late 1800's built between 1886 and 1894. The current London Bridge is about half a mile upstream. The two are often confused with each other.

That's absolutely stunning - are there rooms inside them? or is that just decorative?
you can take a tour inside, there's a bunch of rooms
plus, machinery and motors, to raise and lower it.
Such a wealth of knowledge you are lol

Now there's something I didn't know! Imagine buying a bridge and shipping it half way across the world! I love tower bridge... quite iconic I think. E x
