Travel Tip: Linz, beautiful Austrian city just outside Czech-Austrian border

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, however, I will make a little exception as I will take you to our southern neighbors and show you the magnificent Austrian city of Linz.

Located just some 30 km (20 mi) south of the Czech-Austrian border, approximately 3-hour drive from Prague, the city of Linz is home to about 200,000 people, making it the third largest city of Austria.

The city was founded by the Romans as early as in the 8th century and it was an important provincial hub of the Roman Empire. These days, Linz is a popular tourist destination renowned for an abundance of architectural gems dating back to centuries ago. Some of the most famous sights include the St. Mary´s Cathedral, the house where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born, the Pilgrimage Church on the Postlinberg Hill etc.

Linz is also very popular among foodies as it is the home to the legendary treat Linzer Torte which is considered the oldest cake in the world with its recipe dating back to 1653.

Beautiful city, someday I would love to know it, it is very visited by tourists traveled by the Danube river, Linz has enough reasons to be appreciated. The Brucknerhaus concert hall looks spectacular. There is celebrated the Ars Electronic Festival every year in the month of September. This festival is a platform of digital media and cultural media unique in the world.Thanks for sharing @czechglobalhosts.
@czechglobalhosts, I give you big shout out for change your mind for expand your travel tip to neighborhood Austria. Austrian most popular for opera music & dance. I know Austria has big architectural places to visit of Linz town. I've big passion to eat most oldest cake from there. Absolutely Linz wanna most adorable city of Austria.

As usual to my habit I once again looked up further in the city and it is quite near the border of Czech Republic (I think only 20 miles). Less than half an hour to travel by bus.
The city is quite big and receives thousands of visitors from other countries daily. It looks like that the Germans visit Linz the most. Obviously visitors from Czech Republic are the top ten most frequent to visit the city :-)
Good food, great sights and the oldest cake recipe - sounds like a good time to me :-)

Linz is a wonderful austrian city. The architectural beauty is great. Like the sweet dish too. Good photography.
Definitely worth a visit and its location is making it a great destination for a day trip out of Prague.
