Travel Tip: Sance Reservoir, the most picturesque water reservoir in the Czech Republic

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I will take you to one of the most beautiful water reservoirs in country, the famous Sance Reservoir.

Found in the Moravian - Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, close to the Czech-Slovakian border, the Sance Reservoir is a large dam with a capacity of almost 62 million cubic meters of water. The reservoir was built between 1964 and 1969 and its original purpose was to protect the area from floods. However, since the dam is located in the pristine nature of the Beskydy Mountains, it soon started to be used also as a source of drinking water for nearby towns and villages.

Due to strict hygienic norms, swimming, sailing and other recreation activities are prohibited at Sance but that does not prevent tourists from coming to the dam. The reason is obvious - surrounded by stunning green hills and forests of the Beskydy Mountains, the Sance Reservoir is arguably the most beautiful water reservoir in the country. There are many great hiking trails and bike lanes around the dam, making it a perfect spot for both local and foreign (mainly Slovakian and Polish) outdoor enthusiasts.

Well Tomas, to visit the silent places with natural beauty is always my preference to visit just like the Sance Reservoir. This is indeed a perfect place to visit a person like me. Those mountains and water flowing between them, is giving a stunning view seriously. Let me share one of my picture with your which i took while visiting the Khan Pur Dam,Pakistan back in 2014.

Sance reservoir is an amazing place surrounded by lash green mountains and abundance of natural beauty. Perfect place for nature lovers. Reservoir has a big storage capacity of 62 millions cubic meter. Unfortunately swimming, sailing is not allowed as the water is used for drinking purpose. The good thing is that government promote tourism by providing a facility of bike lane and hiking. Amazing place. Thanks for sharing @czechglobalhosts

@czechglobalhosts, You every time provided very interesting places in Czech Republic. Now you shared details of beautiful water reservoirs of Prague. Basically when started it for better purpose. But now already being travelers attraction place. But you wrote here, swimming, sailing and enjoyable activities prohibited. Probably authority given good decision for protect tourists. Most impressive surrounding area can view to everyone. Ever green rain forest and mountain so cool. Absolutely tremendous location for keep memory.
