Winter Care for Fruit Trees
We have already left Wisconsin but not in our hearts! We still have a few videos left to show you all the work we did to close out the season. Even though it was beginning to snow we were able to get more work done. The real issue for these apple and pear trees are the deer. In winter and especially early spring, the deer will eat the shoots and bark of these fruit trees, leaving them weak or without new growth. In this video we show our ground treatment, while in a future video we will show our fencing strategy.
We are now back in Colombia, in our small town of Líbano. We will continue to be more active in the coming days and months, about nature, our projects, our thoughts and dreams.

But I would have to go to another country to eat them :)
Hi Fabian! I love those fruits - plums and other stone fruits are some of my favorites as well! Where are you located that you can't grow them? I know that I have seen them in Wisconsin and in Colombia - and if you want to just have 1 tree - instead of an orchard - you have a bit more flexibility in where you can grow it!
I live in Venezuela, and here they can not be cultivated for two reasons, 1 the climate does not allow it, and secondly I have not really seen a fruit to get the seed anymore, so those are the two reasons.

And not only the plum likes that height, I also love it, especially the mist in the morning.

As you dropped Wisconsin for a few days due to snow fall Is there no way to save the apple and peach tree from the deer? Are both you making any plan in this video to saving this fruit trees?

Yes my friend! We have now put up some very nice fencing we hope will last multiple years. These trees outgrew the small fencing they had when they were babies, and this year the deer were able to bite them as they grew past the fence.
I will have to check I think one of the next videos will be about the fence :)
