Tree Tuesday - Extensive roots

in #treetuesday6 years ago

It's tree tuesday and I just recalled that I had taken a picture of this one tree with some pretty complex root structure. Today I am trying something a little different. You will notice that the picture I am presenting today is a clickable link. I uploaded a much large file size than I usually do, and now you can click on it to view it in full screen.

You see, sometimes it really bothers me that the pictures I display on steemit are so small. Just for them to fit properly and not take up ridiculous amounts of bandwidth so anyone can view them with ease I reduce their size.. usually to about 800px wide. This means they download quickly but the quality does suffer a bit. When I did that for this image it was even more obvious to me that the image was not as sharp as it ought to be.

So I decided to try a different approach and uploaded a much larger image. Not only that, I made it a clickable link so that you can click on it and view it fullscreen without distraction. It is still half the resolution of the original but it certainly looks much sharper and better. How do you handle your image uploads? What do you find to be the ideal size for uploading your images to steemit?

Back to the actual subject, this is a beautiful tree in the Cramond area of Edinburgh. There is a path that follows a river up to a man made waterfall (i think it used to be part of an ancient mill) and on that path You find this tree. It's old, weather beaten, and has clearly seen better days, but it's roots travel out in all directions creating an interesting pattern on the ground. It caught my attention, so I took this shot and did a little HDR tweaking to bring out the detail of the roots a bit more.

Another high quality shot 56N! I really like how vibrant the tree is then how very bland dark the roots are.

Thanks buddy! :D

So much green in that photo and so much beauty 💚

Thanks! There sure is, I find it soothing :)

This tree is gorgeous! Such stories those roots could tell. I think of trees as the earth's internet, carrying archives we could learn so much from if we only knew how to access their wisdom. 💖

I believe you are right.. just look at the ancient red wood trees in america.. they have been standing for thousands of years.. the stories they could tell! The things they must have seen!

Those roots are coming to grab us.... right out of the picture!!! :) I love roots in trees! I have a few favorite trees... and they all have unusual root patterns! It's a testament to how resilient life can be, in my opinion! Life finds a way :)

Beautiful shots!

Thanks! You are so right! I think my favourite is the rubber tree outside the Edison house in Florida.. that thing has amazing roots that just go all over the place! I love the patterns too.. its fascinating I think.

That's an incredible photo, all those roots branching out look almost alien. It's really strange how all the bark and roots are even green.

Thanks! Yeah its in a really humid place so the roots are covered in a lot of moss and probably even some mould.
