TreeTuesday And The Cycle Of Life
I went for a walk in a local park this morning, and I was really struck by the richness and beauty of nature, especially the towering trees.
Oak trees with Silver Birch in the background.
We have some crazy looking Oak trees - this is a Garry Oak. A friend of mine from California told me "We just call them scrub oaks."
A few trees have been removed recently. This might have been a Chestnut tree, I'm not sure, but in any case, someone has filled the hole in the trunk with chestnuts.
Here's another tree marked for removal. It seems to be wilting... I had a tomato plant in the garden that looked just like that!
A sign from the city. They have 33,000 trees in the park system and this one will be chopped down soon and another tree planted late next year.
Don't think for a second we're running out of trees. In the photo above we see an "invasive species". Nobody seems too worried about it, but the Giant Sequoias are not supposed to be here! (I blame California...)
With or without help from the city, there will be more trees here! This acorn has already sprouted. I found it on a picnic table!
Till next week... Happy #TreeTuesday!
