The future in 2020

in #trends6 years ago

In 2018 we have electric cars, social media at full force, uber, airbnb, e-commerce/drop-shipping, online dating (tinder) and bill payments and online banking done at the click of a button. Everything is moving at such a rapid speed already and 10 years things like online dating were frowned upon and now have become social norms.

Here is my glimpse into how 2020 will look. Things will be more automated and even convenient than ever before. What do I mean by that? Instead of walking around with AirPods, I think we will be having contact lenses (that will be the new platform) along side the phone. This will create a AR/VR experience and create more diverse experiences on more of a day-day basis. E-commerce will expand you can already see wholefoods/Amazon exploding with grocery deliveries because all of this adds value to the consumer, saves time and is extremely convenient. The next phase of this will be when your running low on toilet paper in your household you will get a push notification. If you accept It will be ordered to your house (that way you never run out of any good or supply).

In addition to this, the voice technology is already crushing it if you look at podcasting which is doing big things because it's passive consumption for the consumer. It doesn't matter if your in the car, riding your bike or at the gym your educating, learning and being entertained which is great use of time. To take it a step further, If you look at Amazons Alexa Voice and Google mini home competing for market share already with voice devices. This is going to integrate into your futuristic smart home so while you brush your teeth what are you listening to? Is it 5 minute special of Kevin Hart or perhaps 2 mins of Calming mediation or a quick highlight reel of your day read to you by the device before you jump in the car.

The biggest trends that will be taking affect is all digital if you look at the top 100 app store right now. 1. Is Google classroom it's where students can message each other digitally in real time and also receive updates, homework and other information in the school setting. To follow this there are 5-10 other alternatives in the top 100 that have a similar function to school being impacted by social media/digital platforms. It won't be just stopping here because with so much online demand, consumption, speed, innovation and the fact that we all check our phones 200 times a day. There isn't much time for us to actually switch off mentally. Therefore, I predict that apps like Headspace, Calm will move up into the top 10 and be used daily to recalibrate everyones thermostat. Starbucks will have a neighbour which is a meditation station for people to not only get there caffeine, but to emotionally and physically recharge themselves to keep up with the demands of 2020.

Here is my two cents! Comment below - I would love to hear about at trend or your perspective on how the future looks in a rapidly changing environment.
