BEN GRIMM (THE THING)
The Thing aka Benjamin 'Ben' Grimm) is a creation of the Marvel Studios and a member of the Fantastic Four. It was created by Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and he first appear in 1961.
Its Clobbering' Time
That is his trademark slogan. He has abnormal physical appearance a sense of humour that matches his looks. Ben was a victim of intense cosmic rediation that turned him into orangy skinned monster with superhuman strength. A reminder of The Hulk.
TRIAL BY COMICS
Ok, moving on with challenge by @kommienezuspadt. This week challenge are fundamentals theme series and the essentials for comic book design. This theme is “Pencils”, and that’s exactly what it sounds like. This week only requirement is that it’s in pencil. Let’s do this shall we..
THE PROCESS
For comic book design challenge like this I have to build something dramatic. The image has to make an impact and enought to tell an entire story. I try connecting to the character before beginning the process and it is not just the style, you got to fill the 'soul' to the Thing.
The deal about the entire thing is, big heroes have to fight big villains and here, I introduced 'Mega Tentacles'_A blood sucking parasite that leeches on its victim and strangles the live out it.
The Process
The best part of sketching is every line appear to be wrong in all the figure after we initiate part by part and the sketching will slowly turn to thing that we want. And (The Thing) character is a best part to detailing it cause the rock skinned monster is not like human and that’s the kind that I can sketch less control and bring balance to it.
Aggression and anger must feature prominently in this character. I enjoy drawing this character. I started to pick on rocks to have some idea of the rigidity of movement, the body figure and other feel that is related to the 'Thing'.
My idea is seeing the Thing going berserk and with his enormous strength. Its now 'Clobbering' time'.
After all the sketch done. Here’s the thing I like to play in sketching. Eraser pen is one thing you should buy. Its make your work much easier. Rubbing the part and make a little shining balancing with the shadows.
Ok! Done.
The final touch is penning my signature and getting it ready for steemit.
