Yeah, a youtuber I follow Will Prowse suggests going for the Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries because they are gonna last longer. They cost more up front but they pay you back over time as they wont wear out for a very long time with the proper battery management. DIY systems are great for the hobbyist and off-gridder that wants to get there costs down and really understand their systems in's and out's in my opinion.
