What Does Coherence Mean To TribeSteemUp

in #tribesteemup6 years ago (edited)

It is always interesting to read other people's point of view, especially when it has to do with something that can be interpreted in so many different ways. And so it was with the current TribeSteemUp's Biweekly Question which was put forward By @tibra.

What does Coherence Mean To Me?

If you look up the word Coherence in the dictionary, the Oxford Dictionary for example it defines Coherence as being

The quality of being logical and consistent.
or
The quality of forming a unified whole.

The articles written by the Tribe Members really look at this question in their own unique way and give us answers that ultimately get us to really look at how coherent we are within our own lives!

11 authors chose to answer this question and each article really reflects the great diversity we have within the Tribe. Along with this we get the opportunity to learn little bit more about each author I highly recommend that you take the time to look at each article and get involved in the discussion.</h3

So What Does Coherence Mean To You?

#Tribesteemup Bi-Weekly Question - What Does Coherence Mean To You?

@eftnow

"What does coherence mean to you?"
Effectively, to me, it means that all of the pieces fit together. So, as an individual, this means that your thoughts, words and deeds go together.
I want to stress, that while this is a great thing to aim for in your life, it is also important to be forgiving to yourself and others that do not achieve this all the time.
After all, we are all humans having an experience and we live in a dualistic way.
If you are consistently out of coherence between your thoughts, words and deeds, then you are likely to start struggling with a form of cognitive dissonance due to the imbalance, and this can be stressful.
However, if you are living coherently much of the time, you will thrive and start to live in a world that fulfils your dominant beliefs. I explain how this happens due to the way that the brain filters sensory information in the Vlog.

What Coherence Means to Me: Answering the TribeSteemUp Bi-Weekly Question

@colinhoward

On a personal level, coherence means having a consistent, non-contradictory understanding and, more importantly, active implementation of our version of reality. When our actions conflict with our core beliefs, our reality becomes fractured, potentially turning our life into an incoherent mess if not properly addressed.
Cognitive dissonance swirls through our experience, creating a relentless sense of tension that underlies our existence. Inconsistency in beliefs, thoughts, and actions makes for a jarring and uncomfortable version of reality.

Living in Coherence With the Laws of Nature (TribeSteemUp Question of the Week)

@valorforfreedom

I will take the perspective of living in coherence with nature aka coexisting with it. I talked about the Pacifist delusion, how we destroy nature, and how we can restore nature in our lives and start valuing it.
If you wonder how you can like nature if you find it boring you need to try this: Whenever you feel stressed out and need a place to escape to then just go to the forest or a park around you and just listen to what you hear there and observe it, you will love the quiet and peace you will find there.
After a while, you could start loving it and from that point, you will already do by yourself things to help nature without anyone giving you advice because you started truly valuing it!

@trucklife-family

Another huge question for the Tribe, that was put forward by @tibra. I could begin to talk about the need for coherence within so many aspects of our lives. That in coming together and being in coherence with one another, with the environment we live in, we can move forward. But none of that really matters if we are not experiencing Coherence of Self.
If we really wish to move forward in life, we need to look at how we are interacting with nature, with our natural environment, with our natural self. Too often we hear people describe how something is missing in there lives, that they feel empty. Well something is missing, it is something that has been forgotten. When we are born, we instinctively listen to our inner voice, our inner wisdom. It guides us and helps us navigate our way around. But very quickly we are told to listen to others, to follow others, to trust others over ourselves.

Coherance: We Are all In It Together

@riverflows

My love is a physicist. He sits across the table at a crowded Balinese restaurant from me and explains coherance in physics where light or sound waves have the same peaks and troughs - everything lining up. Like light through the same prism. I'm not sure I understand the maths of it, but I ike the description of what it isn't a. bit better. I like what it isn't - say everyone in this restaurant, he says - all the talking, the noise - it's all different soundwaves. IT's discordant, fractured. Waves crossing over each other. No two the same.
Everyone is in their own bubble - not neccessarily here in the restaurant where mostly we're sharing the same experence - all here to dive, to enjoy the ocean - but out in our other lives. We scream and shout about what the world SHOULD be.. all versions of our own separate subjevtive ideals.

What is coherence?

@freebornangel

Coherence to me is when everything is working in unison.
When all the moving parts function together, coherence is the result.
We could all work together to make steem, and the wider world, a more coherent place, but that isnt at the top of everybody's list.
Too many of us put number 1 at the top of the pyramid.
Everybody else comes in second, or later.
This creates incoherence in the biosphere.
We are all in the same boat.
One big blue marble, yo!

What Does Cold-herence Mean To Me - TribeSteemUp Question

@lovenfreedom

Coherence to me is when something serves its purpose. It might not be what you want, but it gets the job done and it might get things done that you don't even realize.
The cold kills the bugs, the plants hibernate and especially there are no ticks and snakes! Yay for us!
The snow covers the ground is so beautiful and makes you appreciate the cold. The beautiful green blanket we had is now a beautiful white blanket. Just not a very warm blanket.
The ice covering the branches and limbs has another beauty all on its own. Then when the melting begins the icicles form. I'd never be able to enjoy these things or even know about them if it didn't get cold.

[Hae-Joo] Coherence - TribeSteemUp

@imp.unity

Coherence is a fancy Latin word that means "sticking together". This notion of sticking together has meant a lot to us over time, and still means quite a lot in this day and age. We find this kind of thought expressed in our motivational speeches, in pep talks with our best friends, in our marriages disputes, from art to political and philosophical movements... This notion denotes something that makes sense, something that holds us together, something that is whole.
It is related to the notion of consistency, continuity, and integrity; along with these coherence is a spontaneous attribute of life.
What seems striking to me however is that we often use the word to denote situations where its absence is obvious.

What Does Coherence Mean to Me? - Tribesteemup Biweekly Question

@crescendoofpeace

As the child of parents for whom imparting an excellent vocabulary was very important, I knew from a young age that coherence was in essence a measure of order.
But as a science geek by nature, I first became really aware of the concept of coherence in college, as a marine biology major, when taking wave motion physics.
In physics, and to a degree in ocean (and other types of) waves, waves are considered to be coherent when they have Clearly in nature, true coherence of this sort is rare to the point of virtual impossibility, and thus degrees of coherency exist, based upon the degrees to which the shapes and frequencies of waves match one another.what amounts to a similar interference pattern, or in other words, a similar shape and frequency. The greater the interference the less coherent; the less the interference, or the better the interference is matched, the more coherent.
Clearly in nature, true coherence of this sort is rare to the point of virtual impossibility, and thus degrees of coherency exist, based upon the degrees to which the shapes and frequencies of waves match one another.

What Does Coherence Mean To Me? - TribeSteemUp BiWeekly Question

@yinyangmichael

Imagine a way of being in the world that is without friction.
Imagine a mind that is without tension, doubt or contradiction.
Imagine walking and moving your body in a way that is without rigidity, pain or stiffness.
To me, coherence means harmony in mind, body, soul and the natural world around us.
This idea of harmony and coherence is not a new one. It has been well documented and explored in ancient China for over 5000 years. They called this school of thought "Taoism", which translates as "the way."
The Taoists took to this idea of coherence and made it their number one priority. They realized that with it, happiness, joyfulness, peacefulness would arise naturally. And without it, anxiety, depression and turmoil would arise.

Great post @trucklife-family.

I'm pretty new to the Steemit community (my brother @benadapt convinced me to join), but so far the #vegan community and the wider platform has been so welcoming.

If you haven't guessed by my account name, I write about vegan lifestyle topics, with a focus on finding and reviewing the best vegan outdoor gear on the planet. 🏔️🌍🌳

The #Tribesteemup community seems like a perfect fit for my interests and ethos. Is it possible for new members to join?

Awesome as always.. love these posts that mop up the ones I missed. QOTW are such great intellectual exercises!! 💛

thank @riverflows, I have really enjoyed reading everyone's articles, they are all so different yet they all come down to the same thing which is great and very powerful xx

Nice compilation of concepts. I think of coherence as a compromise to your internal truths. To have your values aligned with your actions.

Sounds easy, but it is a really hard job.

thank you @softwaricho for sharing your opinion with us, for me it is to be intune with your true self whilst working towards the common good of all,by expressing one self fully.
