WIND CAVES & FAIRY CAVES

in #tripsteem5 years ago

Kuching is a food heaven for food lovers and awesome place to go shopping for local handicrafts and their famous "Sarawak Kek Lapis". However, starting September 2018, I am trying to eat clean and watch what I eat, so this weekend trip to Kuching, I am looking forward to more relaxing and more sight seeing and going places that I never been nearby Kuching city.

Sarawak is famous for its natural caves. This trip, my friend and me wanted to go for weekend market at Serikin, Bau Sarawak, we managed to drop by two caves.

My first stop is the Wind Cave of Sarawak. It is 45 minutes drive from Kuching City and easily accessible by road. The cave was named "Wind cave" because there is always cool breeze blowing to and fro of the cave. Wind cave is a big cave with lots of Fruit Bats living inside it it. It is also a natural habitats for swiftlets. If you wanted to explore more inside the cave, please bring mosquito repellent.

The next stop is Fairy Caves or the Sarawakians called Gua Pari. Its used to be a Gold Mining settlement of Bau Sarawak. iry Cave (also known as Gua Pari) is an impressive show cave near the former gold mining settlement of Bau. From the front there is a staircase and the surrounding you can see some stalactites and stalagmites which took thousands and thousands of years to be formed. We can see a lot of Buddha statues surrounding the caves too. A lot of Buddhist and Taoist will come here and burned some joss sticks to the deities.

No entrance fee is charge for visiting both caves.

It only took us half a day for visiting these two caves. My next posting is about the borders of Malaysia and Indonesia market. Happy Monday every one.

Love,
