As I see it the US has the following main goals #1''Get the oil''(Trumponomics), #2prevent a American Country from being successfull with socialsm, so as to prevent US Leftists from being able to achieve this in the USA. Objective #3 is to prevent the emergency of a nation that can threaten US dominance in the Americas. Venezuela doesn't have nukes, but it has wealth and with that wealth they could have done a lot to push policies like helping Cuba, Russia etc., something that the secret US Government doesn't want to accept. The USA is an empire and it will do empire things, this is a big problem for nations in the Americas and beyond, but this is history, before the USA it was Britain, Spain, France etc. even going beyond the Romans, Chinese Dynasties etc.
