The minimum wage in the United States and other countries like Canada and U is the minimum total amount of money that an employer may legally reward the workers. It is categorized as the cheapest standard in which the workers might decide to sell their labor, anything lower than that is illegal. Minimum wage laws have been in many countries with New Zealand setting up the first laws. In many cases the employees that are set to be affected by minimum low wages are those that are on the low end of salaries and pays. The criterion for this has always been to reduce poverty. There have been issues concerning minimum wage and its effects especially when it comes to unemployment. There are evidence and support from a lot of scholars that minimum wage increases unemployment. the gig economy makes this a topic of immense consideration
Minimum wages have had a history with economics of the country and they are set up to minimize the loss of jobs while on the other hand increasing the competitiveness for fair wages. The economic conditions that affect the minimum wage in the country have been labor charges, supply and demand of labor, employment terms, distribution of labor etc. Some of the reasons for its adoption include, removing of financial challenges and better paying jobs, a positive impact on growing businesses and increase in job growth. Parties that have challenged minimum wages have had reasons to believe that it does not alleviate poverty. It excludes competition between low-cost markets of labor. (Neumark, William, 68-75) There has been a movement in economies to introduce same rules for gig economy by several parties and individuals to increase the minimum wage. For example Democratic presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders wants it to be at $15 Donald Trump want jobs and not so specific on wages. are freelancers demanding this human right?
