Few Laughs as Little Bang Theory Fizzles Out

The left wing comedy which was actually funny the first 7 seasons, took a bow Thursday night. It was time to end it. The writers had run out of jokes and ideas.

The show had jumped the shark in season eight when the actress who played Howards mom died. Instead of replacing the voice, or just not writing that character into episodes, Lorre decided to make the season dark with Howard whining about his mom passing all the rest of the season. Then they have Penny with her horrible cut off hair dressing in flannel. No funny, no sex appeal.

So you would think they would save some good stuff for the final episode. They had years to plan it,
No. Very little was even memorable. Stuart has a skype appearance, but they didn’t even bother to dye his hair. He is very gray. For all the millions they made on this show, Lorre couldn’t spend an extra dime on the last 2 episodes. Lots of drama. Zero sexy. The main cast really just phoned it in.

The funniest bit was 2 minutes of the Bert character who is always funny. In fact the occasional peripheral characters were always funnier than the main characters. The series also generally did a good job with guest star appearances like Billy Bob Thorton, Teller, Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, Leonard Nimoy, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton, Carrie Fisher, Adam West and the Woz.

They couldn't even get the parting shot right. They cast is eating in the living room as they always did. But the lighting is wrong and the camera angle. Something made it feel awkward, disturbing, not warm or happy.

The series for the most part was watchable by more than the left wing. Sure it was inaccurate. I would find myself yelling at the screen for lies they would interject as science, being a scientist myself in real life. I knew the casual viewer would assume the science was accurate, which as all propaganda does, undermines society. So, it is good for humanity (and my blood pressure) that this show is done.
