Aisling the Almighty ventured out
on the verdant day of Saint Patrick.
the shamrocks glistened invitingly
but Aisling had rainbows to pick.

She started with the violently violet,
and moved to the indigenous indigo,
the wind blew away the blue beauty
to a place emanating a strange glow.

The halo hid a naughty leprechaun,
who stuffed his fingers in his ears,
he was really proud of his loophole,
and hidden it well from his peers.

Aisling had a chocolate gold coin,
and dropped this shiny little bait,
the leprechaun humped on it,
beaten by a little girl of eight.

So,he reluctantly heard one of her wishes ,
to have a childhood of unblemished fun,
Aisling saw no change as he vanished in air,
but at home, her homework was already done.
