Full Sun Peace Statue Silhouette - Hove
The Peace Statue on Hove seafront used to mark the boundary with Brighton before Brighton and Hove was granted city status and became one. Locals will still tell you, however, that they live in one or the other.
It is about 30 feet tall and is an angel of peace, holding an orb and an olive branch and was unveiled by the Duke of Norfolk in October 1912.
It's is a memorial to Edward VII, 'The Peacemaker'. He convalesced in Brighton on several occasions and, by doing so, restored some of the town's fashionable reputation.
