Hey there folks! How are you today? Trust you are doing well despite the weather (especially those in Nigeria).
My last quote was about keeping up with the Joneses, living a fake life all for the social media glam, living lives you can't afford to live at the moment just to maintain your social reputation. Be you, be real!
My quote today is actually on a light note; **don't kill yourself trying to please people because even at your funeral they'd complain of not getting enough food and souvenirs (lol, Nigerian burials are colourful events, this a topic for another discussion).
So many out there dress to achieve a certain look, your complete dressing is worth over a hundred thousand (#100, 000) naira and you have just ten thousand (#10, 000) naira in your account, who's deceiving who? Those hailing you as Baba oh! Mama oh! will be the first set to mock you when things turn around for you.
The painful part of this is clipping your wings because of what will people say, rather than fly, you maintain status quo just so you can satisfy people. So many unlocked potentials buried inside folks because it doesn't meet up to family or societal expectations; "how can I tell them I want to be a fashion designer when are my siblings and cousins are bankers, doctors, engineers, lawyers?" this particular line of thought killed a lot of dreams. Now everyone wants their kids to be footballers but God help you back in the days if you so much leave your assignment undone and go for a game of soccer.
Stereotypes and sentiments, I sometimes don't know which one is more dangerous but one thing I know for sure is, we lose ourselves to both of them.
So Love, don't kill yourself for people, map out a plan for your life and follow it through. I love you💞
