Horrified, Lava Spreads 3 Football Fields Flow to the Road in Hawaii

After the Kilauea volcano erupted in Hawaii, the lava from the volcano began to enter the local neighborhood. The lava flow as wide as three football fields has flowed down to the highway near the intersection in Kopoho which is where the coastal community was rebuilt after being destroyed by Kilauea eruption in 1960.

About a dozen people are still living in the area. Local officials say it is unclear whether the place they live in is threatened by lava or not.

Hawaii Volcano Observatory reported, in addition to residential residents, Kilauea Mountain lava also damages the freshwater lake by making the water in it to boil, on Saturday night (2/6). The National Guard states, as many as three people have been moved to safer places because of the Kilauea Volcano lava in Hawaii that threatens remote areas and keeps them trapped. All three are two men and one woman.

They are on the list of the latest victims of a series of mountain evacuations that erupted since May 3 on the Big Island of Hawaii. Authorities are urging residents in a region threatened by lava flows to go to safety before the mountain again spewed lava from a volcanic gap at eastern Kilauea's reach to their settlement, as reported by Reuters on Monday (4/6).

It is estimated there are as many as 500 residents living in Kapoho area. But Civil Defense Spokesman Jannet Snyder said earlier 2,000 residents had been evacuated from Leilani Estates, a region further away from the west where dozens of homes have been exhausted by lava flows that ran through rivers since May 3.

National Guard, Police and Fire Department troops escorted evacuated victims from their homes located on the eastern end of the Big Island hours before lava cut off road access to the area.

The last phase of the evacuation took place on Friday and Saturday morning by firefighters and police with the help of the Hawaiian National Guard and general working team, "Snyder said.
