Here is my #ulog-quotes for today.

Everyone of us wants to be respected by others. We want to gain respect. As the saying goes, you can not command respect you can only deserve it. That is right, you can’t ask other people to respect you even they are your subordinate or employees.

There are people, because of their high level or status in the society, think other people respect them. They thought respect can be bought by their money. They act like they are superior to others. They think wearing expensive clothes and parading a luxury car can make them respectable.

Politicians feel they are respected by the people, unfortunately most of them are not. A manager in a retail store thought that because of his position, his subornate respect him. Even a father, who is always drunk and make his wife’s face a punching bag, asks respect from his children.

Truly, respect takes years or more to earn but takes only a few minutes to loose. And that’ts what most people don’t understand. I would like to share this..

”Respect is gain by having a genuine intention to help others.”

If you aspire to gain respect from people, you must first show respect for them. Show them that respecting people is natural to you. Showing respect is not belittling yourself. Being courteous is an indication of respect.

However, there is a more natural way of gaining respect from other people. Even your subordinates or superior can show respect to you. Show them that you love them and show your sincerety to help them. A supervisor can gain respect from his subordinate by helping them to learn more about their job and also can gain respect from his manager by doing his tasks diligently without thinking of any reward.

Respect compels people to do things even without asking them. You’ll know if your people respect you when they have initiative on doing things without commanding them to make things happen. You must show your genuine intention that you are there to help them learn and not to scold them. You are there to make their work easy.

Politicians can gain the respect of people if they truly help them not because of their vote but because they really care for their constituents. A manager can gain respect from the management when he trains his people to become a manager as well. Sharing your knowledge to help other people.

People respect you for who you are and not by what you are. They respect you because you help them and not because of your position in the company or government. Gain respect by truly helping them! People will admire you for what you have done and you’ll be an inspiration to them.
