My ulog day 6: Arepas Tumbarranchos Domingueras with family

in #ulog6 years ago

Today, like most Sundays, my family and I decided to leave the kitchen routine, and we went to taste some delicious Arepas called Tumbarranchos. Arepas Tumbarranchos are one of the most original and creative foods of Zulia, consists of a corn arepa that is cooked on a griddle and then passed through a mixture (made with eggs, wheat flour, mustard, milk, salt and water) and then fry it. Once fried it is opened and filled with certain basic ingredients such as: Mortadella, hand cheese, cabbage and tomatoes cut into strips without missing the sauces such as mayonnaise, tomato sauce and mustard. In most of the food stalls there is also a variety of additional outlines that the diner chooses according to his / her taste, among them we can mention: Meat Mechada or Roast, Chicken, Pernil, Lomo Negro, Cochino , Ham and Cheese, Queen Pepiada, or just cheese. Anyone is a delight for the palate.

Tostadas Marucha is a well-known place in the city since it is very popular with neighbors, friends and family; there you can observe how prepare the tumbarranchos: The owners of the place use high quality ingredients and in large quantities. They have a variety of Arepas that you can choose according to your taste. Today I wanted to taste the black loin and confess that they are a delight.

As we all know that talking about Arepa is talking about Venezuela, our culture and the daily table. La Arepa is our most indigenous culinary expression and you can find it in any city in Venezuela. For the marabines, the excellent patron of the arepas is the succulent "Tumbarrancho. The origins of this stunning carbohydrate pump that represents us as a people who love frying, fade in the mists of time, but versions that survive in the oral tradition of the Maracaibo center.

The name of our popular arepa may not be as glamorous as that of the "Pepiada Queen" from Caracas - named after the first Venezuelan Miss World, Susana Duijm (1955) - but it portrays Zuliano's characteristic sense of humor when comparing the flatulence produced by the Cabbage of Tumbarrancho with thunderous firecrackers of the same denomination, which used to be commercialized in the Christmas season.

Eating a tumbarrancho is an explosion of unique flavors, who has not tasted them has lost half their lives. Thank you for reading part of my experiences, I hope you will soon taste this typical Zulian dish to give me the reason!

May the Lord pour infinite blessings on each of you. Happy day!
