ULOG #8: Overcome Your Fear
If I were to choose between dancing and public speaking, it will definitely be dancing. I always say it to my colleagues that I'd rather have an impromptu dance number than to speak in front of the crowd.
However, I was taken aback by the task given to me in which I will be one of the speakers for the refresher course on the event. And after that, I'll be one of the guides which is designated to the LGU-Aloran for the QGIS Training.
Can you imagine that I had a fever the day before the event and my fever spiked up on the event day? I was extremely nervous but one thing that was on my mind was I need to overcome this so that I can proceed to the next level.
When my name was called, I stiffened but managed to walk to the front. My voice was really shakey so I needed a diversion and that's when I started walking to and fro. Thankfully, my voice went back to normal and I ended my presentation not later than 15 minutes.
It was a nice experience and I hope that someday, when my name is called to talk in front, I'll be the "Afraid Caryl" no more.
