Lavender Blueberry ice cream and Rose Pistachio ice cream

This is my entry to @mininthecity's #dailyfoodphotography. This was taken at Blaqk Bite Street Bistro. This is a new food place recommended by my friend. It was also their first time and said she liked it. Since this is a positivity challenge, then let me focus on the great things about this place.

Blaqk Bite Street Bistro

This is a Bistro that serves black burger. This is just one of the food establishments here in the city that serves black burgers. However, this is the first one to serve gigabyte black burgers. What they use is activated charcoal and add it in making the burger bun giving it the black color. (Read about activated charcoal and its benefits here.) We did not order that, however, because we had not so good experiences with other black burgers in other places before that made me not a fan.

We decided to choose other meals from their menu instead.

First things first. The place. I like how they maximized the space. It is a corner part of the building so they made use of the natural lights by using glass windows.

It was late in the afternoon when we went to the place. They used warm lights to make the ambiance more relaxing.

This is a stage where there are singers who set and they made it riveting by propping up a bicycle on the wall. Notice the small black squares on the right.

Those are notes about customers' feedback about the place. It is like a post-it wall. Some were creative in making feedback notes. It is my first time to see something like this and it is an innovative way to say what you think about the place. They used threads and clips to hang those little card boards.

Blaqk offers an array of meals and drinks you can choose from. Aside from the black burger mentioned above, which is one of their featured burgers, they also offer rice meals, other kind of burgers, fries, salads, chicken wings, ice cream, coffee, frappes and tea.

They even have a seafood platter for sharing. They offer individual meals or group meals.

The prices are affordable because this is near schools and universities and residential where students stay. They have chosen a great location to cater to students and other customers. The building where this is located have different places you can chose from to eat but these cafes have other locations elsewhere in the city. There is a gym and an internet cafe as well.

We made our choices on what to eat but since it will take 15-20 minutes to prepare the meals, we opted to eat dessert first.

We ordered Lavander Blueberry and Rose Pistachio ice creams. These are their new flavored ice creams at that time. There are other ice creams as well like Macha. Macha is a popular flavor these days. There are teas, frappes, coffees, cake, etc with macha in it. It has become a favorite. I tried to stay away from that.

I like the soft, creamy and buttery texture of these ice creams. It is smooth and they are like paper put together layer by layer. It melts easily.

The Lavender Blueberry has a stronger taste to it while the Rose Pistachio has a milder taste. There were no more than 15 minutes when our other orders arrived.

Now, on to the main dish.

I ordered the half slab baby back ribs. It has a slice of grilled corn and a salad on the side. The meat is cooked well and tender. It is coated with their own sauce with lots of spices. The food is presented great as well which is good for photography. I like the way the rice rolls as well. It is sprinkled with sesame seeds.

The other one is fried pork belly with binagoongang (fish sauce) rice. The pork belly is washed in soy sauce mix.

It was a nice early dinner and very, very late lunch for us. The food and taste are good. I would love to try their other food next time.

There is an ongoing eating contest at Blaqk. For different kinds of burgers, you are allotted time to finish the burger. Most are set at 5 minutes for guys and 6 minutes for ladies. Some burgers have lesser time required to finish. If you finished the burgers before the given time, the burgers are free and you get other prices like personalized Blaqk t-shirt, etc.

I probably will try that next time.

The place is welcoming. I like how they were ingenious in their overall decoration. The staff is accommodating, too, which is an important thing.
