#Ulog post 4--- A VISIT TO THE VARIOUS UNITS Cont'd

My visit to the various units continues.

CONSULTING ROOM
Next we were shown the consulting room. It was quite small though it consisted of a bed, chair, and table. This is where patients are being attended to.
From the consulting room we moved to the fitness room and along the way we passed a room with a shelf that housed various pax herbal products some of which were Pax black soap, Pax herbal blood tonic , Pax herbal logotine ,Pax alatone tea (rejuvenating herbs), Pax herbal carlogen capsules (herbal supplement).

FITNESS ROOM
Our next point of stop was the fitness room for exercise which had equipment for physical exercise such as the treadmill machine and elliptical machines.

DISPENSARY
This was a large room with various packaged drugs. It is where drugs are dispensed after payment.

STOMACH CLINIC
This is a restaurant where food and drinks are served.
INFORMATION ROOM
We were also showed the information room with a single chair and desk. This is where one can ask questions and get answers concerning Pax herbals.

CONFERENCE HALL
We proceeded to the conference hall. It was a beautiful room with art works hanging on the wall, there was also a flat screen television in the room and several seats arranged in rows.

DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY
A door in the conference room led into the diagnostic laboratory, where we met with the medical laboratory scientist, Mr Francis. It was an air conditioned room with various equipment. It is where tests are carried out for patients who come to Pax herbal for treatment. Equipment used in the diagnostic laboratory include
Water bath: This is used for reaction purposes. Some chemical reactions occur at certain temperatures so they are placed in the water bath and the temperature is set.
Electrophoretic machine : For determining genotype
Bucket centrifuge : For sample preparation.
Microhaematocrit centrifuge : for packed cell volume determination.
Incubators : Dual purpose incubator which serves the purpose of cultivation and drying and the single use incubator for cultivation alone.
Refrigerator : For preserving samples and reagents.
Autoclave : This equipment is used for sterilization .
Spectrophotometer (single beam) : For measuring absorbance of samples.
Microscope : To view microorganisms.
Other instruments include test tube, test tube rack, chemicals and glass slides.

LIBRARY
The library had a table with some files arranged on it and also there were shelves with various books arranged on them. We were told by our tour guide that the books were about medicine and healing. The shelves were marked for easy identification. Bookmarks included
Material medica
Herbal medicines
Vibrational healing
General
Plant medicine
Journalism/news
Religious/spiritual
Nutrition/medicine
MUSIC THERAPY ROOM
The music therapy room consisted of various traditional instruments such as the talking drum. This is majorly for depressed patients.

PRODUCTION SECTION
The tour was getting more interesting as we proceeded to the production area but first we were given head gears before we entered the area.

FINISHED GOODS STORE/WAREHOUSE
This was a large room with finished products. Drugs were packed in bulk and arranged on shelves.

RAW MATERIALS ROOM
Cashew bark, egbede stem, arthritis stem, fagara stem, uketa root, ugbobi. These were all found in the raw materials room.

FORMULATION LABORATORY
We passed by the formulation laboratory but were denied access to it as it is where their formulas for preparation are done and is strictly confidential
