Ulog #111 Family, Friends and God’s Work in a Foreign Land
Where I am from in Virginia is 12 time zones from where I currently live in the Philippines.
Differences
- Pretty much everything
- Food
- Language
- Culture
- Customs
- Climate
For me the food, culture and customs were easy to get used to. I have travelled to 36 countries and always loved to experience new foods, meet new people and cultures.
Outside of our place in Virginia
This is our yard where we live now.
Now it is not always snowy and there are plenty of hot days in Virginia, but I have not experienced a winter in over 4 years. I actually liked the cold. Not to fond of shoveling snow, but the fresh brisk air is wonderful.
I had to leave behind many family members and friends. My wife and I both left good jobs a very nice and large house. But the physical or temporal things I can honestly tell you, I don’t miss even a little.
I do miss my mom who is now 87 years old. It is very possible I won’t see her again on this earth. She is a woman of faith and I know we have eternity together, but it is still, at times difficult.
I am a very simple person and have just a few goals. There are only a few things I need to be happy and satisfied..
I actually currently have them all!
- A solid faith
- My Family
- Friends
- God’s Work
- Knowing without a doubt that I am exactly where God wants me.
The last one for a Christian is paramount. There is peace and rest when you are where God wants you and are doing what He wants you to do.
The following photos are of my family. These are the ones God has given me and they are the ones that keep me happy and satisfied every day. They preserve my sanity!
My wife @ronafe.
My son Roque
My niece Courtney
My niece Amber
Most of the time I have 1 or 2 of them on my lap. Sometimes all three!
And God’s Work
Fruitful ministry. Just in the last month we have been blessed to lead over 3000 people to Christ!
Hallelujah!
This is really why we are here!
Going into the highways and byways compelling them to come in!
To me the greatest joy a Christian can have besides having our own sin forgiven, is to lead others to Christ.
Jails, Drug addicts, schools, remote islands and villages. Wherever we can we share God’s Word and His Love.
This is truly abundant life!
A much smaller house? Yes!
Having to go without some things? Yup!
At times risking life and limb? Si señor!
It is all worth it! Having an eternal inheritance waiting for us in heaven and while we are here, building and advancing God’s kingdom. The Gospel is the greatest and wisest investment as it has eternal benefits!
Thank you for your time!
