ULOG: #7 For Week 20 - I Should Be Happy But I Am Terrified

Sometimes when you get traumatized by someone or something it is hard to get over it. I have been misunderstood by my brothers and they always reprimand me even at this age. They also look down on my daughter and me.

I tell my daughter to tell her uncles or ask permission. Well she told me Quote "Mom I am 32 yrs old now. I can not ask my uncle all the time or tell them what I am doing or buying. It is my money, not theirs. They will not always be there for me. I have to learn to stand on my own 2 feet"
Bravo for her. It is me who is the weak one.

She has a point and I know she understands what she is doing. I know my brothers just want to protect her. But sometimes they can be overbearing. Friends tell me that my daughter will learn, the easy or hard way. How will she mature is she has to ask all the time?

I am saying this because my daughter has fixed her room with an air conditioner and bought a new bed and small generator. without telling the older uncle but the younger knows. I don't know about the middle uncle. Here in the Philippines.

Now she bought a car. For here in the Philippines. She said it is an investment but also for me to use when I go to the city for grocery or check-up and no need to worry about expenses but gas. She said also I can bring my mom with me and for her check up too. She said for our convenience her in the Philippines. Everyone told me that it is good because my mom is old and we have something in case of emergency. Easier for us too.

For more than 25 years my 3 brothers were in the States no one had thought of buying their mom a means of transportation. Now my daughter has been in the US 3.5 years she has decided to buy one because she knows how hard it was to travel because we live 40+ kilometers from the city.

They were first planning on a smaller one then a slightly bigger one. I guess they decided to get one that will last longer and more comfortable. I think it is a cross between a SUV and a sedan. I know how to drive, I had a license before and I drove in the US. Maybe I should learn or practice again. For in case of emergency and there is no one to drive. Anyway Jay and his younger brother know how to drive.

What I am afraid of is the long hard sermon. The putting down and the saying irresponsible. I just wish they would understand and stop putting us down because I am not perfect like them.

So all I can do is pray and hope. But I am really happy I finally have a means of transportation even at an older age. So wish me luck!
