Lessons from my father (Fatherly feather 1)

in #ulog6 years ago

Hell again, it’s tracedigitz and my second post is an epistle of the lessons I have learnt from my father, I hope it lightens you up to love that popman😄😄

Growing up for me was one life long experience seasoned with lessons on how to live a life of fulfilment. My father, a school teacher, who life’s circumstances could not allow him achieve his dream of being an academician raised seven of Us with a very strong grip and amazing love for all of us. He never spared us when it was required , he never failed to listen when necessary. Even as I grew from my tender age till maturity, my father at every night during the family devotion would take his time to sermonize on certain life’s principle, share his wisdom with us and pray for us. That is who my father is and I can make bold to say life without him would have been full of errors, that could be avoided. What I meant is that there were certain life’s guiding principle which I was able to feast on in the course of our meetings, even as I am of age. These principles are what I want to write about and cite relevant examples of how they came to be. And I would love to start from the tales I was told

Prayerful

OK, this is very crucial (not out Of religiosity) and that is why I want to talk about it foremost. When I was 2 years old, I was so ill, really sick. The cause of the illness was said to be a misuse drugs which affected my body system. This condition causes me to loss blood on a daily basis and so I was placed on constant drip. I was told I almost died, but I am alive and healthy. My dad told me that after many months of no visible results, he resorted to pray a prayer of desperation. In his words, he said he told God that if was given to him from God then i should be alive, but if otherwise God should take me away and so I lived. Many time I was at home, I have witnessed my father in the middle of the night in the sitting room praying for hours for the family, and that is one crucial lesson I have learnt from him.

Diligence and Dedication

One other very important principle I learnt from my dad is act of dedication. Basically my father taught me early in life that whatever a man has engaged in, should be 100% and nothing less, in fact, when the family started a small poultry business, my dad gave his all to ensure that the business became nourished to success. My dad would never leave anything unattended to as it concern the poultry and this yielded positive increase as the business witnessed a laudable growth overtime even without a prior experience in agribusiness or vet. This cue on diligence and dedication I took as very important principle in my living. So whenever I delve into a venture I give my all, just like my dad

Punctuality

Well, he always wants to be on-time. I know a lot would think for an African man its quit impossible, but for him it was a principle. My father preferred to be punctual at very important event, than rather attending late. I have witnessed him and my mum argue over punctuality over and over again and his stand would remain “we have to be punctual”. As children in the house he made punctually an outlook and you cannot even dare keep him waiting.

Discipline

My father is a disciplinarian and even when I was young I felt he was wicked. I remembered vividly that the honk of his car from far distance meant utter disperse into our individual rooms or everyone finding their respective duties and engaging in them. This lasted for long and all of us dreaded him, and sometimes when we all gaze back Memory Lane we all find it hard to believe that he was the most friendly and jovial being I have ever known. Talking about strokes, he administered it when necessary and he was justified and the secret behind this was that he caned us when necessary and prayed to accompany same. His disciplinarian figure was known across the neighborhood and other family admired our cultured and disciplined disposition. Growing up , I realized that I was Sharpened and made better by all these.
He taught ygybus to dress decently, avoid unnecessary extravagance and choose our company with care.

Responsibility

My dad’s outlook on being responsible was outstanding. He took charge of everything with the loving support of my mum. There was never a time that we had logistics issue in the house. As a father he ensured that everything to function with were made available and his maintenance culture was out of this world. My father takes time to check everything and ensured that they in proper functioning. My dad expressly told me one day that as a man who would one day be the head of a house, I cannot afford to be irresponsible and non Challant.
Watch out for the continued series 🚶🚶
