ULOG: 10 Happy 87th birthday Mom!
87 years ago my Mom was born.
I worked the weekend, so got the day off. I spent it mostly working in the yard. Mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing. But then I took the time to travel in town (15 miles) to see my Mom. She was born during the depression. Saw many new things in her life. Maybe one of the biggest was electricity to the house.
- When she was 3 years old, Grandpa bought the homeplace where I live now. (with a new trailer).
She has macular degeneration, so her eyesight isn't good enough to drive. Sometimes when we're texting or talking on the phone, she mentions she would like some ice cream, but no one is available to take her. My son lives upstairs and supposed to do things like that, but you know how busy 30 somethings get... I work 30 miles away, so can't take off to take her. So, I got her some ice cream for her birthday. I got a big box of Good Humor bars and drumsticks. One box of strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. 2 boxes of drumsticks and 1 box of chocolate bars. I also got her a big tub of swirl sherbert. It has orange and strawberry among other flavors... I also picked her up a cake that had 4 flavors. Lemon, cinnamon swirl, chocolate and vanilla bean.
- It's really hard to buy birthday gifts for 87 year olds. But she did need a new toilet seat, so I got her that too.
Growing up, Mom was a stay at home mom. Then Dad left when I was 17, so she took a job at the court house. When Grandpa got sick, she moved back home to the farm to take care of him. After he passed, she started working for RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). She retired from there.
I think she does pretty good for being 87. She gets around good. Her mind is good. I will miss her when she's gone. So will others. She's always been a very giving person, putting others in front of herself many times in her life. Always one to share anything she has.
She has 2 boys, 5 grandchildren and 9 grandchildren.
Steemit last night
I tried to get this ready last night, but Steemit was having problems. 502 Errors. SteemWorld was having problems. ulogs.org was having problems. So, I just went to bed in hopes it would be working this morning and it is!
It was a good day.

You both have birthdays pretty close together then. I am sure that has led to some interesting birthday events over the years. I think cake and icecream are perfect birthday gifts. At least you bypassed the fancy smancy smart toilet
