ULOG: 32 Water restrictions are lifted. + Anyone know what these symbols mean?
We've been in a severe drought here in north, central Missouri, USA.
- A few days ago, the boss decided to implement water restrictions such as no car washing or irrigation.
- Yesterday, we verified our water levels in the wells with a video camera. He lifted the restrictions.
- We've had no rain. The water levels haven't changed.

This is the well structure. It contains all the electronics for motor control and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) equipment.
As you can see, they farm right up close to our wells. This year it is soy beans. Last year it was yellow corn.
The well basically is a hole drilled in the earth about 50 feet deep into the water aquifer. The casing is metal surrounded by concrete part way down. Here's the casing from inside the meter pit.
About water wells.
We have 7 water wells. I'm using 6 of the 7 today.
- This is how I go down into the pit.
- 5 of the 7 have what we call meter pits.
- In the pit is a meter, sample tap, check valve, valve, pressure gauge and a sump pump.

Strange symbols
Anyone know the meaning behind these symbols?
Drawn in chalk on concrete...
This one says do not pass.
It was written on the concrete creek crossing going to one of our wells...
There was a strange little guy with long beard and cane that shot lightning out the top who was chanting weird things, so I Abracadabra turned him into ...

No idea what the symbols mean.
But your wells reminded me of my grandpa. He was in charge of the water ditches in southern Idaho. He made sure each and every farmer got their share of water. Started work at 5 am, I know because I got baby sat by him and rode the ditch with him. He worked for the canal company for 50+ years! Without him greedy people would have hogged all the water.
I am very glad they lifted the ban on your water. Droughts suck!
I witnessed some of that water rights bs when I lived out in Colorado. A neighbor had to pay huge amounts yearly to continue to use a well he had used for decades. There was a well on the place we looked at buying, but the fees hadn't been paid, so we couldn't have used it. There were canals all over the place, but don't get caught diverting or it was huge fines! All bizarre laws in my mind.
I was stationed up by Idaho Falls, ID. I don't remember seeing any water canals up there.
We have no water rights laws here in Missouri. If you can use it, goferit...
My grandpa lived in southern Idaho, Hazleton. Was a very small town when he moved there. Still pretty small, last I knew. Surrounded by fields for miles.
Hazleton is close-ish to Jerome.
I can’t belive you have to pay for a well on your own property 🤯🤬
Such bS!
