Ulog # 1: Helping Thirsty Birds This Summer

in #ulog6 years ago (edited)

Summer can take its toll in my part of the world and outside temperature can reach up to 120F. Whereas this blazing solar inferno cause serious discomfort for humans, other creatures like birds who room in the open in search of food get most adversely affected.

So yesterday, I bought a fresh clay pot to serve as a water source for thirsty birds. I already had an old clay pot from last year. So I placed both of them in a shady place on my rooftop and filled them with fresh water.
I hope that some of the tiny creatures will start frequenting my rooftop this summer.

I prefer clay pots instead of plastic pots because the clay pots keep water cool. The science behind this cooling effect is that water oozes through the pores of clay pot and evaporates. This evaporation cools the pot's surface just like sweating cools our skin. So the water inside the claypot gets cooler than the surrounding ambient temperature.
Imagine, if you were a bird would you visit a place that serves hot water in summers.😂😂😂

You are so nice to birds! :)

It's just what being human means:)

Aww this is so nice!! I bet they will appreciate it 👍👍

Let's hope so, I can only try:)

That's nice of you to do! Not only are you helping the birds, you also get to hear some nice bird songs from your efforts (probably). We don't need to give water to the birds or other animals here in Norway since we got lakes and rivers all around, but instead we must help them with food during the winter.

Yeah...little friends are frequenting my place...
Can food go scarce in winter in your region, like water in summer in ours???

Yes, most birds have a big problem with getting food in the winter, because the ground is covered with snow. So it's really difficult for them to find edible plants at this time of the year.

Birds are going to love getting fresh water from these! They look nice too! :)

I really hope:)

you have done very good job :) @xabi
great man
