Ulog - Surprise Birthday Celebration at the Farmland
Today, some of our relatives planned a surprise celebration for one of my grandmother's sister, Lola Ening. Lola, in Filipino, means grandmother. Although we were informed of the plan, the location was still in question. It was only around 9 AM when they told us where it would be. Surprisingly, it was in Nagcarlan, Laguna (where I was last week!) but they took this shortcut in Victoria and Calauan so we arrived here earlier than expected.
The place was far from the town proper. We passed narrow roads at the foot of the mountain. Breathing fresh air relaxed my mind and my senses while seeing abundant lush green calmed my eyes. This was provincial life, simple yet peaceful. The three sisters took a picture in the traditional nipa hut (bahay kubo) acting as if they were waiting for suitors to fetch them.
We took a tour around the area before eating lunch. There were three wishing wells available which were the sources of water for bathing and other household chores. They had water containers for drinking although they told us we could also drink from the wells.
Lunch was prepared, and we all sang for the celebrant. It was her 70th birthday and she thanked us all for coming and she wished to continue living her life to the fullest.
Fruits that were planted here were calamansi, rambutan, lanzones, banana, papaya, chili, and more. This was a great place for relaxtion, away from stress and chaos that could sooner or later affect one's life. I realized that no matter how busy we could be, or no matter how we tried to keep things as they were, it would be substantial to pause and think things through especially if we would be making a major decision. This trip helped me see things in a different view (because, well, we're going through something rough). I would like to share this great view to everyone.
And of course, a great opportunity for some good shots.
