Why you should use bid bots on every damn post you make: "Cake Analogy"

in #upvote6 years ago (edited)

Income distribution sucks, both IRL and on steemit. If you're legit and something can boost you, use it!

The Bakery

Yeah, the mighty rich have it all, but we're not talking about them here. The cakes they make is what we're discussing. I mean, they're delicious, right? Don't you know? Well, they most certainly look delicious. If you're offered a slice of it, take it. You can share it with me later if you want to, by the way.

The Slice

I mean, just look at it. You want it. But it's on the market, so if you don't eat it, someone else will. It could be served to an undeserving selfish stomach, whose owner won't share that fluff with anyone.

But if the waiter is walking around offering it, and you grab a big enough piece, even after your stomatch is full, you can offer the leftovers to your friends or even random strangers who might be starving. By having enough, you could eventually even understand how to make your own recipe, or at the very least, be able to pass it on.

Before the era of pastry

You know, I'm glad they're offering us some of their goods. There was no way I could ever afford this all by myself. I didn't get any when these stores didn't exist. Did you? Everyone I knew got even less of the sweets distribution.

But look at us now, we can even help each other! Finally, our daily sugar quota is being met. We're not too low on callories anymore, which means our healthy bodies can be a lot more productive.

Don't tell anyone, but the cake is a lie! It's just an analogy for financial growth.

While I understand this, it can be also understood in the opposite way:

When you take a slice from that cake, you take the slice a spammer wanted to take, which of course is a noble reason. (because you're not a spammer, and you'll use your healthy body to give other people.)

But you didn't just take a slice of the cake, you gave the cake maker money... And that money will be used to make bigger cakes.

When you take a slice the next time, your slice will become bigger... But at the same time, the spammers take bigger slices because of you too.

And that's not all, the collective cakes that can be made are finite, so when you give the cake makers money to get bigger slices. what you are doing also makes it harder for other cake makers to make their cakes.

I don't know how to explain the math behind the "rewards pool" but that's the one argument against the cake analogy, of course, that argument still has flaws.

I'm still with your point of view @felipejoys, I eat these cakes too myself, in my own way. But I wanted to mention that its not all there to it.

and yeah, REALITY isn't fair.

Bots share blacklists, so it's fine. No spammers ever get a big enough bite.

Yeah, I'm glad that even upvote bots are working to make steemit better in their own way. Not only looking to maximize their profit.

My word of warning is, if you bid for vote and then the market goes down, you will end up losing sbd as the payout decreases overtime. This would be especially painful if you are making big bids, so need to watch out for that.

It's not that bad unless the market crashes really hard. Bidding usually grants 5~20% profit.

One should also note that when the market has already crashed, vote rewards should actually go up as value recovers over time, if it does, of course.
