Friday Market
Every Friday in Benalmadena, there is a ‘Friday Market’. It runs from 10 am to 2 pm. I was curious to know what sort of market it is, so I went to have a look this morning.
I was surprised. I had thought it would be just a few random stalls and a few curious customers. But there were quite a few more stalls than I had anticipated and there was a crowd too - mainly tourists. But apart from that, there was nothing out of the ordinary – just ‘one of those markets’.
I had a walk around and a cursory glance at the goods that were sold. Quite a variety of stuff – from clothing to accessories to porcelain to fruits and plants, to… as far as I can tell, the goods are not counterfeit goods, and they are cheaper at the stalls than in the shops.
To think that this is happening every Friday, and for only four hours each time. It must be a tedious job – setting up shop, do four hours of business, then pack up.
A view from the park above the market.
