Dear Friends, I salute You!

I am writing this post to let you know of an interesting and challenging translation project that I have started.

Please find below the information of the project.

Swarmops

Swarmops is a necessary tool to enable any bitcoin-native or decentralized gamechanger.

Swarmops is an admin system for swarm-type organizations. It's a bureaucracy system for people who thoroughly dislike bureaucracy, so it removes all visibility of it and focuses on the ops aspects. It manages decentralized authority, volunteers, members, activists, budgets, mass communications, expenses, payroll, invoices, and complete financials/bookkeeping.

The goals of Swarmops are three:

Become the #1 software for organizing swarm activism to effectively change policy,

Become the #1 software to manage native-bitcoin startups' cashflow and accounting,

Become the #1 software to run civil liberties resistances in repressive regimes.

Contribution Specifications

The total words of the project are 11547. For my first contribution I have translated in total 1023 words. I will reduce approximately 10% (duplicate words) which results to an estimated 920 words

  • Languages

The source of the project was in English and I translated it in Greek (my native language)

As per the new guidelines, proof of work screen shots are not necessary but I would like to take this opportunity and inform you of two important things:

Why This Project

  1. To be honest, I have been looking at this project for a while but did not dare to start it until,
  2. Our New Language Manager @dimitrisp proposed this project for me - and-
  3. Sicne I was sure that he would be the one to proofread, why disagree right from the start with him? :) hehe (Dimitris, you know I am kidding, right?)

Challenges

At first the project seemed easy, but as the translation was moving on, I came by specific terminology business, bureaucracy, financial related that I had to be very careful in order not to make mistakes.

We should always pay attention to the context, and also to the other languages (but preferably to take under consideration the ones that are proof-read)

Another Greek Translator, named Anestis, had translated a few words but most of them needed to be changed. For instance, in Greek we have the singular that use for informal conversations and the plural that we use for formal conversations or in written. The other translator had translated many strings in singular, which in my opinion (Language Manager & Team agreed) should be changed.

Experience with a new LM

It has been wonderful to work with our LM @ruth-girl! She is very attentive, thorough, kind and with a phenomenal knowledge both in English and in Greek.

So you can imagine how difficult it was for me to not know what to expect by our new LM Dimitris, who I did not know so well

I can say that we are very lucky to have another very competent Language Manager in the Team. He is very precise, informed me of a few things to pay extra attention to and provided me with very useful advise.

I believe that the Team is lucky because the style and knowledge of our LMs is kind of complementing each other. Ruth with a theoretical background and Dimi with a more technical background and a deep knowledge of the programming terminology ..

(I will not talk to this post about the brilliant Translators, but I will in the near future!)

Thank You for this opportunity

I am happy to be a part of the Greek Team - Ευχαριστώ - Thank You!

Team

The Translation Projects would not be accomplished without the valuable help & support of the Greek Translation Team and of course @utopian-io & @davinci.witness

I am still excited to bring Open Source projects steps closer to Greece!

It was a refreshing experience to proofread your translation, Katerina! I hope our cooperation was really as awesome for you, as for me :)

This was the 8th translation we received from you and the 1st one on the Swarmops project.

Overall, I was very satisfied with our cooperation. Your translation was great, a few minor things needed to be changed and you did it lightning-fast.

Your contribution post is pretty much great, leaves nothing to be desired. I can't help but notice that you were pretty close to the next word count level. Perhaps next time, go for it if you feel like it? :)

I'm looking forward to our next proofreading session!
