The ideas are realized in open source software. There is nothing to steal there. :)
What is stopping a company from using that code, modifying it slightly, producing it faster, and marketing it better?
nothing, its free and open source software. Like Bitcoin is for instance, or almost all other blockchains, or like OBS, Handbrake and thousands of other cool projects and software.
