I wonder if there is any specific reason to do X letter as a moon shape and put it twice?

I've tried an alternative to see how it would look like with similar width and not pointy edges to follow the flow of the other shapes.

About the editability of the file, using masks makes it harder to make any change. If I try to delete the logotype, gradient directly effects from it. If I try to change the shapes it also brakes the whole design.

And unfortunately mockups are not related to project...
