Proposal

Add real-time protection for brave core files to prevent any unauthorized changes to them.

Mockups / Examples

This is suggestion to add a protective process either within the main brave browser process or as a separate process. A new process will be created by brave that will monitor all files installed by brave in the computer. The process will backup all the brave files when brave is initially run (first time when brave was opened) in a separate database.

The process will then monitor all changes to the brave core files and if any other programs tries to change the files other than the real owner of that computer, the process will prevent them from harming brave files. The process must block any overwriting of brave files by other applications and only allow the main process to make changes. The process will start with system and run even when brave is not running.

Benefits

The real-time process will prevent adware, malware, viruses and other harmful software from injecting adwares, changing the new tab pages or adding annoying bookmarks in the top bar of brave browser. There are many adwares that are known to modify chrome browser and add unwanted tabs and pages to it (example). Adding a real-time process that always prevents such activities will be beneficial to general users of brave browser and prevent it from getting hijacked.
