The Curious Expedition Greek Translation - Part 49 (~ 1122 words)

in #utopian-io5 years ago (edited)

Current Session

Monday today and what better way to start the week other than a new contribution for The Curious Expedition. Right? Right!

So, as you can see from the title, this is my 49th contribution which brings me to having 60 % of TCE completed. A nice round number if you ask me:

60 % down, only 40 % to go!

As for the current session. like I have said 49 times counting this post, this was again a very easy translation. Just have a look at some of the strings I worked on during this session:

A Lizard Warrior joined our trek.

Inactive Geysir

Stone statue

Chocolate rations

Charcoaled animal meat

As you can see, there is really nothing special to deal with when translating this project.

And like with many of my previous translations, I again inserted a few original strings of my own here and there (always making sure they fit with the context provided) as the devs have given us the liberty to do so!

Now, let me conclude with a small taste of the music I enjoyed while preparing this contribution:

That's all folks!

Project Details

The Curious Expedition is a rogue-like expedition simulation set in the 19th century. It's the first game by indie developer Maschinen-Mensch. The game is available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store and at the official homepage http://curious-expedition.com. The game has been regularly updated through out the last 2 years. A list of all the updates can be found here. For information on modding the game, go here . [source and more info]

Gameplay

And here's what I believe to be the official trailer:

Why Did I Choose This Project?

Well, to be honest, I chose this project because all the other options were applications with boring names like Freecad and Jabref. I thought it would be fun (edit: less boring) to translate a game instead. And thank god... I was right!

I am sure my team members are very jealous that I get to translate strings like "Let's eat", "Giant tortoise", "I feel happy and sad", and "Oh my god" while they get to translate stuff like "resolving duplicate keys", "Port Design", "Constraining modifier key" and "Corrugated elements"... LOL!

Too bad for them, now they have to live with the choices they have made....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview: This is a really large project, approximately 80.000 words and obviously it's gonna take me a while to finish. In each part I plan to translate anywhere from 700 to 1200 words. For the most part, the translation is very easy as there are few, if any, technical terms.
  • Languages: The project is being translated from English to Greek.
  • Word Count: According to Crowdin, for Part 49# I translated 1122 words, for a total of 50345 translated words. Since most of the strings translated were part of the in-game dialogues, there were only a handful (1, maybe 2%) that were left in the original language, e.g. screenshot.

Thank you for contributing to the Davinci-Utopian translation project @trumpman!
This was the 49th part for the “Curious Expedition” project and your 52nd contribution to the translation category in total.

To quote a part of my comment on your first part of this project:
You are currently working on the Curious Expedition, a game that, even though it may not contain difficult terms and vocabulary, is one of the biggest projects a member of our team has ever tried to work on (almost 80,000 words). Good luck on this difficult task!
When you started translating, a handful of strings were already submitted (but not approved or voted) by another translator irrelevant to the Davinci-Utopian project. You have gone through them and checked them for any corrections that needed to be made, you have even fixed a few of them that were problematic.

I liked the translation I received very much. It was a part accurately translated, consistent with the former ones in writing style, you made no grammar, spelling or syntax mistakes. I only asked you to change 3 phrases, as I didn’t quite like the wording you had chosen. In short, your Greek text is perfectly adjusted to the game, I also like your additions, as you are really careful and choose to add things of your own wherever it is appropriate.

Your contribution post is detailed and enjoyable. Your language and formatting are very good, your writing style is personalized and entertaining, all these combined, give a great contribution post, although you could explain a few peculiar and funny phrases just for a change (come on! there are so many of them in the game!!).

All in all, your contribution was great, @trumpman! Well done!
Can’t wait to see that 60% completion turning 100%!!!
