Does Hyundai Think Vegans Will Ever Buy Its Cars?

in #vegan5 years ago (edited)

Non-vegan people keep telling vegans that they don't have a sense of humour. Unfortunately, humour has its place but not in the most grievous of situation. Without even having an idea of what they are talking about, they expect a "sense of humour" from vegans. That's plain sick of them!

In the latest Hyundai Superbowl commercial, Hyundai make a fun of vegan food.

This advert showcase a crowded elevator that stops at different unpleasant experiences like Root Canal, Jury Duty, middle seat of an airplane for a 6 hour flight with awful co-passengers etc.

One of these unpleasant stops was labelled as "Vegan Dinner Party". The lift operator ridiculously quirks, "Is that even a thing?", while the host welcomes with a beetloaf.

People who don't know how delicious a vegan meal is, should actually go and try it instead of assuming things.

When many vegans reacted furiously to Hyundai's vegan-bashing advertisement, Hyundai got a little defensive. It later tweeted:

We actually love vegan food and are glad it's going more mainstream

Hyundai even gave a diplomatic clarification:

We actually like vegan food. That guy just wasn't a fan of beetloaf.

Later Hyundai even shared the actual recipe for beetloaf to win vegan hearts.

But I still see that they haven't taken down that advert from their Twitter handle.

In India Hyundai has won the best customer service award for two years in a row. But if this is the way to serve their customers or potential customers, it's a terrible company!

Many people are finding that ad quite funny ...the way it was intended. But it was natural for vegans to get offended. If you want to see the advert, here is the link:

In response to the Vegan Dinner Party scene, Molly Elwood tweeted the following alternative clip:

Yes, it's a scene from an abattoir
Would it go well with meat eaters as funny?

I do agree with you. I've been vegan for 2 years and 99% of my friends are non vegan BUT when someone from our circle is supposed to hold a dinner party they always ask me. They love the food that I cook and they always ask for recipes. They say they would become vegan BUT.. there is always a BUT.. you know I don't try to convince them. I try to live as an example and show them that you can live healthy and happy life on a plantbased diet.

I personally don't get offended by such things. I believe that everyone has a choice and if these people are able to fall asleep peacefully during the night then I can't do anything to convince them that they're doing something wrong..

That's the best way to peacefully propagate the message by being an example yourself.

Yeah, many people can peacefully fall asleep at night despite of partaking in the massacre. The phrase "Ignorance is a bliss" explains it all!

Everyone learns when it's their time. Sometimes, the message takes time to travel from brain to heart. Patience is the key.

Exactly, patience is the key. For many people it is difficult to accept that what they were doing all their lives, what they were taught to do by their parents and teachers is simply wrong. It does take time and it's the most difficult part to take the action. I think once you're vegan it's easy :)

Another issue that I see is that many people hear stories of vegans becoming sick. This doesn't help the image that we have. People become vegans without thinking.. start to eat salads and smoothies and think it's alright. Eventually they start missing the nutrients and become sick. Then they have to return to omni diet and this is the best for omnis who can say: You see? It's not healthy, I'm not going to do that. I wish that all vegans did their research and tried to eat the variety to stay healthy. Then more people would consider this change..

Anyway, we could talk about it for ages I guess but I don't want to hold you off anything what you need to do :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Your offendedness offends me... Let the rabbits wear glasses! Plants have no souls and it's OK to murder plants!

Sorry for offending you! I've no business with you.
Well, who is stopping you to murdering plants? Vegans talk about sentient animals only.

So then snakes and mice are allowed to be murdered? What's the deciding line? Do you believe that you are not killing a living being when you murder a plant?

Seeds are unborn plants! Isn't that murdering a life?

And I'm not really offended I'm just having fun. I don't hate you. I actually am. Opening a dialog! And thank you for the reply! Voting your post!

Deciding line for most vegans is sentience. For me, it's degree of sentience.

Like you said, killing a plant is also killing a life form. There is no doubt about that. Seeds are unborn plants, I completely agree with you on this.

Thanks for the vote! Cheers!

Beetloaf is nasty!

So what!
Taste buds and their taste perceptions are always subjective.

Oh I can see your point. I just don't agree with it. And If you are really awake? You wouldn't watch TV as it burns fossil fuels. And cryptocurrency isn't environmentally friendly.

Just because your diet is plant based means you had to kill something living to eat. And the belief that plants don't have feelings has been disproved. Plants are living breathing and aware beings that have a spirit and soul.

Honestly biggest gripe I have with vegans is that ignorance of plants being alive. And the respect of your food source.

Got a vegan friend that honors his food source and is aware of his choices and impacts. I'd go over to his house and he would make food for the nonvegans and we would all sit and eat together after honoring the plants and food that will nourish us and keep us from starvation.

Next up... A starving human will eat nearly anything and be thankful for every bite. A vegan will complain if their food isn't to their standards.

As someone who knows about starvation... I wont be picky about having food. I know what it's like to have nothing to eat.

Yes, you got it right! Veganism can't eliminate all violence, it only strives to minimize it. In fact, whatever a human does, he / she will always damage his / her immediate environment to some extent. But that doesn't imply that one should strive to protect or conserve it to the extent it's possible.

So minimizing murder is allowable?
Wow... I gotta hear more...

Didn't know that murder could be minimized... Isn't all murder bad?

Posted using Partiko Android

Of course, all murder is bad and we try to eliminate or minimize only that what is undesirable to us. Isn't it?

Further, all murder is violence but all violence doesn't mean murder. The word "violence" has a wider meaning than "murder".

e.g. cutting a leaf for preparing some leafy vegetable is better (or less violent rather) than uprooting the whole plant for potatoes or onions.

Anyways you are totally correct in believing your thoughts. Also I honor you for being you and having them. I'll be spending some extra votes on your posts because of the interaction and explanation. Thank you for enlightening me as your views I actually learned alot from talking with you.

Thank you.

Vegans kill more animals in the production of food than any other dietary group.
